Enrolment process

The first step to enrolling your child at Preston South Primary School is to complete the Student Enrolment Form. A paper version of the form is available at the school office, or you may complete the online version and email it to us.

When submitting the Student Enrolment Form, also attach:

• Your child’s Birth Certificate
• Your child’s Immunisation Certificate/Record
• Proof of residence – utility bill, driver’s licence, rental agreement, etc. (for new families to the school.)

Please note:

• To commence primary school, children must be five years old by 30th April the year they start school.
• At Preston South Primary School, we accept enrolments for the following year from March onward. 
• If you have enrolment questions, please contact the school office.

Upon receipt of your enrolment, an appointment may be scheduled for you and your child/ren to meet with the Principal or Assistant Principal to further discuss your application.

If your family is relocating, or you are interested in having your children attend Preston South  Primary School, we ask that you first get in touch with the school to organise a tour.  After a tour, we will walk you through the enrolment process and timeline.

The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. 

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Preston South Primary School.

To facilitate the planning of 2023 classes, staffing and resources, we request that enrolment forms (as well as your child’s birth certificate, immunisation status and proof your current residential address) be submitted to the school by August.

You may submit your enrolment form by:

• Mail: Attention – Principal, Preston South Primary School, 56B Hotham St, Preston, 3072, Victoria
• Email: preston.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au (Subject: 2023 Enrolment Form)
• Hand the form into the office: office hours are 8:30 am – 4:00pm weekdays.

 August : Submit your enrolment form and supporting documentation (birth certificate, immunisation record, and proof of address) to the school office. 

Late August: You will receive an email (to the addresses provided on the enrolment form) with either an offer/no offer of a place at Preston South Primary School. You will also receive information about the Foundation Transition program for 2023.

If you were offered a place, please reply to the email, either accepting or declining the offer.

At Preston South Primary School, our Story Time Program is held in September and our Prep Transition Program is held in October.
